Join Ashley as a Residential Furniture Restoration Technician

Bring worn finishes, scuffed corners, and snagged upholstery back to life—right in customers’ homes. In this field-based role, you’ll diagnose and repair case goods, leather, and upholstered pieces while delivering a world-class, customer-first experience.

A Day in the Life

You start the morning by reviewing your planned route to ensure on-time arrivals. With a well-stocked, organized service vehicle, you visit customers, assess each issue, and select the most efficient repair path—whether that’s a small surface touch-up on a table, a color-matched leather repair, or rebuilding a damaged corner on a case piece. You’ll complete advanced replacement-part repairs, document recurring product issues, and clearly communicate when a repair cannot be completed. Between appointments, you update notes in our in-house systems and coordinate any needed parts or tool maintenance. You may collaborate with warehouse personnel on minor touch-up techniques during inspections and occasionally work in a shop setting where a general understanding of spray booth setup and use is beneficial. Bench testing evaluations help you validate your skills regularly.

What You’ll Do

• Perform in-home repairs across all product types with minimal guidance.
• Complete entry-level repair types plus tasks requiring additional skills.
• Execute minor top-surface repairs on case goods and tables.
• Handle solid-color paper/side refinishing and small corner rebuilds.
• Complete advanced replacement-part repairs and accurate documentation.
• Inspect damaged items and determine if they can be restored to like-new condition.
• Work with warehouse teams on touch-up techniques during product inspection.
• Report and follow through on recurring product damage trends.
• Assist fellow technicians and accurately report when repairs cannot be finished.
• Communicate tool, parts, and hardware needs; keep the shop and vehicle clean and organized.
• Operate hand and power tools safely—especially drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools.
• Adhere to the driving policy for company vehicles, including meeting annual MVR review requirements.
• Follow planned routes to arrive on time for customer repairs.
• Complete periodic bench testing to validate and grow your capabilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 1+ year of practical furniture repair experience (upholstery, leather, wood refinishing) or comparable hands-on work with materials and color matching.
• Read, understand, and write in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to learn and use in-house computer programs.
• Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record per company guidelines.

Physical and Work Environment

• Close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
• Hear, speak, and communicate clearly with customers and teammates.
• Periods of extended sitting; repetitive tasks with both hands (keyboarding, handwriting, office/POS and handheld device operation).
• Extended standing and walking; frequent bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching at or above shoulder level.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and more with assistance.
• Work predominantly in private homes or retail environments with occasional time in warehouse locations.
• Potential exposure to oil, latex, spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors, household dusts; moderate office noise.
